Jiang Ziya’s Fishing Pier is located inside Panxi Canyon in Baoji City, Shaanxi Province. It has a very long history, with very beautiful scenery. It enjoys a good reputation as the “First Fishing Pier in China” that was the first holy relic for fishing with the earliest handwritten records by human beings.

As the story goes Jiang Shang was already quite old and lived a reclusive life as a fisherman at the banks of River Wei. The place is famous for such stories as Jiang Ziya’s living and fishing there during West Zhou era, King Wen of Zhou visiting sages, and Jiang Ziya who ended Shang and helped found Zhou Dynasty that lasted 800 years. After the conquest of the Shang kingdom, Jiang Shang was enfeoffed with the territory of Qi in the east, with the task to control the eastern region.

Historical stories such as “Master Keung fishing for those that were willing to take the bait” and“despite the rising wind and waves, sitting tight on the fishing boat”all originate from here.
