Liu Guozhong, Secretary of CPC Shaanxi Provincial Committee, launched the opening ceremony together with guests

On the evening of October 11th, the 7th Silk Road International Film Festival opened in Xi'an, Shaanxi. Liu Guozhong, Secretary of CPC Shaanxi Provincial Committee, attended the opening ceremony. Governor Zhao Yide and Fang Jiangshan, deputy editor-in-chief of People's Daily, delivered a speech.

Guests also include Lu Liang, deputy director of the National Film Administration, Gong Xixiang, secretary-general of Xinhua News, Ren Qian, director of the Film and Television Translation Center of China Media Group, along with members of Standing Committee of CPC Provincial Committeesuch as Wang Hao, Niu Yibing, Lu Jianjun, and Vice Governor Fang Guanghua.

Governor Zhao Yide said that film is a bridge for connecting minds, a major medium for documenting civilization, and a crucial carrier for facilitating cultural exchanges around the world.Having been successfully held for six times,the Silk Road International Film Festival has played an important role in promoting mutual cultural communication and developing humanistic bonds among countries and regions along the Belt and Road.As thebirthplace of Chinese civilization and the starting point of the ancient Silk Road,Shaanxihas attracted a large number of film lovers and fostered many film artists and masterpieces, with its profound history and cultural atmosphere. For domestic and foreign film professionals,this film festival will be an opportunity to fully communicate with peers, boost the industrial development,resonate with the era,and jointly spread the beauty of the human civilization.

Themed with "Silk Road Links the World, Film Connects Cultures", this film festival aims at highlighting the characteristics of Belt and Road Initiative. There area total of 6 themed activities, namely the "Welcoming Event", "Special Film Recommendation", "Film Screening", "Film Forum", "Film Market", and "From Shaanxi to Fujian", as well as the "Movie Carnival" and other supporting events.
