In order to ensure the safety of cultural relics and to celebrate the Chinese New Year, Xi'an's Bell Tower and Drum Tower are undergoing lighting and upgrading at night, according to the Bell and Drum Tower Museum.

Recently, the new lighting mode of the bell tower was commissioned, and the drum tower was commissioned immediately. It is expected that it will be officially operated before the Chinese New Year to create a strong festive atmosphere for the ancient city.

A long-distance accurate light transmission method has been adopted to ensure that lighting facilities are not installed on the ancient building's body.

The Bell and Drum Tower are cultural landmark buildings of Xi'an. The Bell Tower is typical of the artistic style of Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) architecture, with a triple-eaved pyramidal roof that fully embodies imperial magnificence.

The Drum Tower is located opposite to the Bell Tower. It was built four years earlier than the Bell Tower, and was rebuilt twice during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Standing on a square base penetrated with a north-south arch passageway, the two-storey tower is a timber and brick structure. It is capped with a double-eaved roof covered mostly with grey tiles, but possessing dark-green glazed tiles along the roof edges.
