The 2018 summer internship Program in government agencies ended with a great success

The wrap-up meeting on the 2018 Summer Internship Program

On August 24th, the government convened a wrap-up meeting on its 2018 summer internship program. The governor Liu Guozhong honored the interns with certificates and delivered a speech.

Liu mentioned that the internships in government agencies can not only enhance the transparency of the government affairs so that society can better supervise the government, but also help younger generations know more about the national realities and the public concerns so as to better fit into and serve the society. Youth is the future and hope of our nation, and is the main force to push forward the cause of the Communist Party of China and the people. President Xi Jinping once spent seven years as an educated youth in Liangjiahe village, Yanchuan County, Shaanxi Province. The story of his seven years’ experience has left a treasure trove of spirit and enlightens young people to closely connect their future with the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and to take on the mantle of building socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Liu added that young people should set big goals and keep seeking to achieve them. They should make active efforts to learn the concept of socialism with Chinese characteristics proposed by President Xi and put it into practice. They should strengthen their confidence in their path, theory, system and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and nurture a firm and right outlook on life, values and the world. On one hand, they should seize every day at school by working hard and getting themselves equipped with theoretical knowledge. On the other hand, they need to keep learning from their colleagues and the elders in their work and draw lessons from their daily lives. In a word, young people should start from trivial things, aim high and take solid steps to realize their dreams.

Liu said that in our journey through life, we will encounter numerous setbacks and obstacles, that’s why we must take the right attitude towards success and failure. In other words, we should keep a sober mind when living in peace while fighting back when faced with difficulties. We should always go forward with a positive mindset and strong tenacity, for difficulties and sufferings can make us grow. All college graduates are welcome to stay and work in Shaanxi, to start their career in this great land with an eventful and long history and to make their own contributions to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and a better Shaanxi Province’s construction.

He said that the government has made great efforts to set up an internship platform. Since the program was launched in 2012, over 30,000 college students have worked as interns in municipal and township government agencies and in some companies. One tenth of these interns come from Xi’an Jiaotong university, which is important for them to know about the conditions of the country, the province and the society and to have a stronger bond with our country. On behalf of the Xi'an Jaotong University, President Wang extend his sincere gratitude to all the guidance, care and support of the government.

The secretary-general of the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province Fang Weifeng hosted the meeting. The persons in charge of the relevant departments directly under the government and some universities, and 184 representatives of the interns attended the meeting. Xie Yang, the director of the Office of the Government Information Opening and Zhang Xuanmin, the deputy secretary-general of the People’s Government of Xi’an Municipality, respectively reported the work of the 2018 summer internships in the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province and the People’s Government of Xi’an Municipality.
