Caribbean reporter delegation visited the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province

The delegation of 10 Caribbean reporters approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were invited by the Information Department of the Ministry to visit Shaanxi from April 16th to 20th. It was the first project conducted by the “China International Information Exchange Center Caribbean Branch” launched by the China Public Diplomacy Association in 2018. In the afternoon on April 17th, the delegation went to the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province to have a visit and attend the work conference.

The representatives visited the former government office building, the pool for rainwater collection and cyclic utilization, the Command Headquarters of the Xi’an Incident, the Xincheng Yellow Building, and the Lu Xun Library. They familiarized themselves with the changes, the layout and the functions of the Xincheng Courtyard throughout history under the interpreter’s introduction. Then they visited the Exhibition Hall of the Historical Development of the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province and the Showroom of Gifts between Foreign Exchanges to have an in-depth knowledge of the history and development, the major economic and social achievements and the foreign exchange records of Shaanxi.

The delegation visited the Exhibition Hall of the Historical Development of the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province.

The delegation visited the Xi’an Incident Site and signed their names to commemorate the visit.

After the visit, the delegation went to the Conference Room in the Yellow Building of the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province to attend the work and exchange conference with the representatives of the Political Affairs Publication Office of Shaanxi Province, the Shaanxi Provincial Development and the Reform Commission and the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Commerce.

The conference was chaired by Zheng Shengli, the Vice Director of the Political Affairs Publication Office of Shaanxi Province. Zhu Gang, the Head of the National Economy Comprehensive Division of the Shaanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission, and Wan Chun, the Head of the Comprehensive Division of the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Commerce, introduced the current situation, the economic construction and development, and the cooperation and trade situation with foreign countries. The representatives then asked questions concerning trade and exchanges, the information of export and import commodities and the economic and trade cooperation between Shaanxi and the Caribbean, and expressed their wishes to enhance the cooperation and exchanges.

The “Civilians Visiting the Government” activity is one of the important measures of the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province to push forward with political affairs publication. Since the launch of the activity in October, 2011, it has been held a total of 166 times, inviting over 7,000 civilian representatives to come to the provincial government, visiting different departments, getting to know the work of the government, and having conferences and talks with the persons in charge.
