Xi’an Drum Music Performed at the Street of Rotterdam in Netherlands, Attracting Large Local Audiences

As an important part of “Happy Chinese New Year” activity held by Ministry of Culture, Xi’an Drum Music (led by Hejiaying Drum Music Society and Chang An No. 2 Middle School Drum Music Society) which is praised as “the living fossil of Chinese music” went abroad in this Spring Festival, hosted several performance in Netherlands, and was praised by local audience.

On January 28 of local time, Hejiaying Drum Music Society firstly made a performance tour in Chinatown of Rotterdam in Netherlands. Dignified and graceful costume and dulcet music brought much enjoyment to Dutch audience, and the audiences were busy in taking pictures. During the performance, the stage was tightly surrounded, and the enthusiastic local audiences were zealously asking the performers to take photos for memory.

Then, the Drum Music Society went to Hague City Hall to attend the Chinese New Year Celebration Activity. Wu Ken, Chinese ambassador to Netherlands, Smith, provincial governor of South Holland, Chinese and overseas Chinese, and the Dutch friends, totally over a thousand people, attended the activity. The Drum Music Society played many tracks, and the vigorous and majestic Tang Dynasty Music made the audience experience the unique charming of Chinese traditional music.
