Discovery of Northern Shaanxi: the Wetlands and Amazing Birds in Yulin

When it comes to Yulin, what people thinks first of is always coal, oil and natural gas. Yulin. In fact, there are totally 43 various kinds of wetlands throughout the city. The number of important wetlands that are added in the list of Shaanxi Province, is 22, such as Shenmu Hongjiannao, Yu Yang Estuary, Hengshan Wuding River, accounting for 50% of the whole province. At the same time, there are 18 orders, 52 families and 232 species in Yulin, which also accounts for 50% of the total number of birds in Shaanxi. There are 8 kinds of national first-level protected birds, 29 kinds of national second-level protected birds and 11 kinds of key protection birds in Shaanxi province among them. When the relict gulls that belongs to the globally endangered and national first-level protected birds were found in the Hongjiannao in 2001,there were only more than 200, but up to now there are more than 16 000, making Hongjiannao become the largest breeding location for relict gull around the world.
