Xi'an classical music shines in Germany

The Wind and Percussion Ensemble of Xi'an, a world-class intangible cultural heritage with a 1,000-year history, performed at the Dresden Music Festival on June 5 in Germany, showcasing Shaanxi's rich cultural heritage to European audiences.

The Dresden Music Festival is one of the most influential classical music events in Europe, with a history of nearly 50 years. The Ancient Music Orchestra of Xi'an repaid the audiences' expectations with a professional performance, receiving thunderous applause, as well as praise from German media and colleagues in the local music industry.

Jan Vogler, the festival director, praised this performance as a major success in the festival's history, enabling German audiences to appreciate the unique charm of Chinese culture. Kristin Klaudia Kaufmann, Dresden's deputy mayor, stated that this performance promoted cultural exchange and highlighted the importance and influence of mutual learning among civilizations.

As an essential institution for protecting and preserving the Wind and Percussion Ensemble of Xi'an, the Ancient Music Orchestra of Xi'an has participated in various cultural and tourism exchange activities in Shaanxi province. It has made appearances at significant diplomatic events, such as the China-Central Asia Summit, contributing to the promotion of international exchanges.

The Shaanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism will continue to support major orchestras within the province, guiding them to utilize cultural and tourism platforms to showcase Shaanxi's cultural resources, while better serving the national diplomatic strategy and Shaanxi's opening-up efforts.
