The route is scheduled to be operated by SCAT Airlines, with two flights departing every Thursday and Sunday, starting from July 3. The addition of this route will make eight direct flights from Xi'an to the five Central Asian countries.

Shymkent is one of three municipalities directly under the jurisdiction of the Central Government of Kazakhstan. It is an important gateway city in Central Asia, a key point on the "Belt and Road", and has a deep historical relationship with Xi'an, as well as close economic and trade ties.

The route will further enhance Xi'an Xianyang International Airport's status as an international aviation hub. To date, the airport has opened or resumed 54 international and regional passenger routes, covering seven cities across the five Central Asian countries.

The airport and Tongcheng Travel Holdings Ltd also signed a strategic cooperation agreement during the event, with a focus on deepening cooperation in flight network optimization, aviation and tourism product innovation, and air-ground transportation network construction, helping the airport reach new heights.

The airport will continue to deepen cooperation among all parties, promote the integration of aviation and tourism, and unleash the value of hub services, contributing to the high-quality development of Xi'an and the northwest region's civil aviation.
