Xi'an's economic and social development in 2024

In 2024, Xi'an's overall economy improved, productivity developed.

Xi'an's GDP was 1.33 trillion yuan ($182.13 billion), an increase of 4.6 percent over the previous year. Per capita regional GDP reached 101,485 yuan, an increase of 3.9 percent.

Annual grain output totaled 1.43 million metric tons, exceeding 1.4 million tons for the fifth consecutive year.

The added value of industrial enterprises above the designated size increased by 6.5 percent compared to the previous year.

The annual operating revenue of Xi'an's service industry enterprises above the designated size reached 469.54 billion yuan, an increase of 7.1 percent year over year.

Retail sales of consumer goods increased 2.5 percent to 543.56 billion yuan. Total import and export revenue increased 14.5 percent to 411.8 billion yuan, and fixed assets investment (excluding farmers) increased by 0.2 percent.

Residents' per capita disposable income was 45,082 yuan, and per capita living consumption expenditure was 28,314 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.3 percent and 3.3 percent, respectively.

Xi'an received 306 million tourist visits in 2024, generating income of over 376 billion yuan, an increase of 12.3 percent compared to the previous year's tourism revenue.

The average production capacity of the public water supply was 3.49 million cubic meters per day, with a total supply of 904 million cubic meters.

The energy consumption of industrial enterprises above the designated size was 6.43 million tons of standard coal, an increase of 3.0 percent over the previous year. Total electricity consumption was 65.26 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 10.3 percent.

There were 241 days with good air quality throughout the year, an increase of 13 days from the previous year. The annual average concentration of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) decreased by 10.4 percent.
