Xi'an to open first SkyShuttle municipal route
The first train of the SkyShuttle project in Xi'an High-tech Industries Development Zone, Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, was officially launched, laying a solid foundation for the first SkyShuttle municipal route in Xi'an by the end of this year.
The SkyShuttle system, developed by BYD over seven years with an investment of nearly 10 billion yuan ($1.39 billion), can realize unmanned, automatic operation 24/7.
It features the advantages of being highly attractive, safe, intelligent, adaptable, low-cost, and low-noise.
The proposed trajectory is estimated to traverse a total distance of 17.2 kilometers, encompassing a single designated transportation hub, a total of 18 distinct stations, each spaced at an average interval of approximately 1 km, and additionally incorporating three key transfer stations along the designated route.
The route will connect major industrial zones and residential areas within Xi'an and link renowned companies in the information, software, internet of things, and equipment manufacturing fields, such as BYD and Huawei.
The SkyShuttle project in Xi'an is not only a technological breakthrough, but will also offer significant transportation benefits in reality.
It fills the gap in China's independent low-capacity rail transit system and provides the public with more efficient and convenient travel services. Furthermore, it further reduces the time and distance between the southwestern part of Xi'an and the main urban area, effectively promoting urban transportation in Xi'an.
