A young Indonesian woman called Yang Huisi – her Chinese name – has shared her love of Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, which she says continues to inspire her.
Yang graduated from Xi'an Jiaotong University in July and she says that four years of university life has made her fall in love with the city, inspiring her to record this unforgettable time with photos.
Recently, Yang signed up to participate in the "Find Beauty in Xi'an" short video screening activity for international students and expats and shared these photos with everyone.
In 2018, Yang came to Xi'an to study, majoring in economics at Xi'an Jiaotong University.
As a fourth-generation Indonesian Chinese, Yang communicates with relatives and friends in Hokkien, which is very different from Mandarin. Although she has studied Chinese since she was a child, her level of Mandarin was previously not high due to the limitations of her home language environment.

But when she came to Xi'an, her level of Mandarin improved by leaps and bounds. She subsequently won the first prize in the 2021 Chinese Storytelling and Foreign Affairs Interpreting Contest of Xi'an.
During her stay in Xi'an, Yang has also participated in a number of social service activities including teaching volunteers.
In addition, Yang has a soft spot for the guzheng, or Chinese zither and has learned it for four years.

At the end of 2021, the postgraduate entrance examination at Xi'an Jiaotong University was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Yang became a volunteer in the examination entrance area, helping to guide candidates to the exam room.
She then decided to continue her postgraduate studies at the university, majoring in applied economics.
"Thanks to the school's four years of cultivation, I have become who I am today. In the past four years, I have witnessed the development of Xi'an, a city of warmth. I am grateful to Xi'an," Yang said.
