Roads linking Xi'an, Xixian New Area start construction
A groundbreaking ceremony for roads linking the urban areas of Xi'an and Xixian New Area was held on Feb 24 in Fengdong New City, Xixian New Area, Northwest China's Shaanxi province.

Xixian New Area is a national development zone co-built by the cities of Xi'an and Xianyang in Shaanxi.
The ceremony saw five projects with a total of 13.04 billion yuan ($2.06 billion) in investment and a total length of 51.9 kilometers start construction.
The five projects were Chenzhi Road-Keji Second Road project, the reconstruction project of the auxiliary road of the Kunming Road-Lianyungang-Horgos Expressway, the widening and upgrading project of Hongguang Road, the Afang First Road project, and the reconstruction and expansion project of the Xi'an-Xingping Expressway.
The projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2024 and will further improve the quality of infrastructure interconnection in Xixian New Area, which is essential to the construction of Xi'an into a national central city and promoting the high-quality development of Xi'an and Xixian New Area.
