A perfect conclusion of 2024 Xi'an Marathon

On November 3, 2024, the Xi'an Marathon officially started. A total of 35,000 runners from across the nation set off from the starting point at Yongning Gate, embracing the rich history and culture, along with the vibrant spirit of the ancient capital, Xi'an.

A marathon illuminates a city. From Yongning Gate to the Xi'an Olympic Sports Center, crowds cheered for the runners with enthusiastic shouts and warm applause. These heartfelt interactions infused vitality into the thousand-year-old capital, showcasing the openness, tolerance, and hospitality of Xi'an.

China's Jia E'renjia claimed the men's marathon championship, with Ethiopia's Adisu Tesfahun Tafere and China's Yang Shaohui taking second and third places, respectively. Ethiopia's Derartu Hailu Gerefa secured first place in the women's marathon, while Kenya's Pamela Rotich and China's Pan Sufang finished second and third, respectively.

Since its inception in 2017, the Xi'an Marathon has rapidly grown and garnered widespread acclaim from runners both domestically and internationally, achieving a record 204,082 registered participants this year.

2024 marks the seventh anniversary of the Xi'an Marathon. To enhance the quality of the event, the organizing committee is committed to coordinating the competition, securing event supplies, fostering a vibrant atmosphere, and providing benefits for the participants.

This year's route has been further optimized, featuring a flatter second half compared to last year. The finish line is located at the Xi'an Olympic Sports Center this year, allowing contestants to make a final push with a ceremonious conclusion.

The on-site environment prior to the event, along with the 37 refueling stations showcasing city elements on the day of the event, fully highlighted the hospitality of Xi'an citizens.

Alongside the competition, a range of tourism benefits allows the contestants to fully experience the unique charm of Xi'an, the cultural capital of the world.

During the Xi'an Marathon, the inaugural 2024 Xi'an Sports Consumption Carnival and Xi'an Sports Consumption Expo took place, drawing nearly 100 enterprises in sporting goods, sports equipment, sports technology, and cultural and creative sports items. The expo enhanced the Xi'an Marathon's role in promoting the deep integration and development of culture, tourism, sports, and business.
