Silk Road intl art festival in Xi'an a cultural feast

The 9th Silk Road International Art Festival opened in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, on Oct 15.

Over the next 14 days, the festival will showcase artworks from more than 90 countries and regions, as well as nine provinces in China, allowing the public to experience the charm of art and Silk Road culture.

After the opening ceremony, both domestic and overseas artists, along with the audience, were treated to a stage play directed by renowned Chinese film director Zhang Yimou.

The play combined stage creativity and technology to showcase the charm and brilliance of the ancient capital and the Silk Road through stunning visual effects.

This year's festival will include activities such as opening and closing ceremonies, performances, art exhibitions, tour performances, online exhibitions, and special events.

The festival will feature 37 high-quality performances, over 600 outstanding artworks, and more than 80 unique cultural activities.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the proposal of the Belt and Road Initiative, and this year's festival provides a strong platform for promoting cultural exchanges and deepening and expanding international cooperation.
