Time-honored French champagne brand landed in Xi'an via China-Europe Freight Train
On June 13th, the time-honored champagne brand Cattier from French launched the ceremony of opening its first store in Xi'an, also the first in China. François Blanc, counsel for agriculture in the French Embassy in China; Wang Rui, division chief of the Market Operation Regulation Department, Xi'an Municipal Bureau of Commerce; Zhao Yongqiang, director of Beilin District Municipal Bureau of Economy and Trade in Xi'an. Managerial leaders from Shaanxi Urban Investment and Operation Group and SKP, current owners of Cattier and other honored guests also attended this launching ceremony, which marks the official landing of Cattier into the Chinese market.
In recent years, with the continuous advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Chang'an China-Europe freight train has paved a path through the model "logistics + trade + industry", bringing Xi'an to the frontier of opening up and making the Eurasian land bridge a golden channel to exchange policy, trade and people-to-people interactions along the BRI countries. In 2021, via the Chang'an China-Europe freight train, Cattier came to Xi'an and started accelerating its strategic layout of the Chinese market.
The China-Europe freight train not only strengthened the bond between Cattier and Xi'an, but also reached full-chain cooperation with Cattier, which includes front-end agency procurement, pick-up at the winery, export customs declaration, international transportation, import customs clearance and customs declaration, domestic warehousing and other integrated operations.
At the launching ceremony, Zhao Yongqiang, director of Beilin District Municipal Bureau of Economy and Trade, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, said: "In recent years, Beilin District of Xi'an City has focused on propelling the development of commerce and introducing foreign brands. The landing of Cattier will bring new impetus to the development of the Yongning Gate commercial district in Xi'an.”
François Blanc, counsel for agriculture in the French Embassy in China, said: "Champagne accounts for more than 70% of China's sparkling wine imports, and this share is growing, which means that the market value of champagne in China has gradually been recognized. Therefore, Cattier's first store in Xi'an is particularly important to further promote this development."
Alexandre Cattier, the current owner of the Cattier winery, said: "In 2021, Cattier Champagne was transported to Xi'an, the ancient capital of thirteen dynasties, via the China-Europe train. The brand Cattier was also passed down to the thirteenth generation, which establishes a wonderful bond between Cattier and Xi'an." Originating from the small town Chigny-Les-Roses in France, Cattier Champagne has a history of 400 years, always maintaining the business philosophy of high quality, exquisite craftsmanship and traditional technique.
