Kaiyuan Theatre in north Xi'an will open in May
As the first comprehensive modern theater in the north of Xi'an, Kaiyuan Theatre will be put into operation on May 11th. The theatre not only makes up for the need for large-scale public cultural venues in the north of the city, but also becomes a new landmark of Xi'an in the literary and artistic field.
Kaiyuan Theatre consists of a large theater with more than 1,200 seats, a small theater with 500 seats and an exhibition space of 6,000 square meters, which together can fulfill opera, play, dance drama, musical, symphony concert, Chinese opera and other artistic performance forms.
Inside the large theater, the stage structure is very unique. The structure of the auditorium features multiple layers, resembling "blooming flowers", and the fan-shaped components extending outwards are very dynamic, reflecting a unique artistic rhythm.
The "Composite Flower" hollow roof at the top of the audience hall is decorated with star lights, like a flower stamen.
In the first year of the theatre's opening, at least 150 performances will be shown. In addition to drama and dance, there will also be musicals, children's drama, concerts, Chinese opera, stand-up comedy and other performances, meeting the needs of different audiences.
In recent years, there have been more and more cultural performance venues built up within the neighborhood of Xi'an folks, and many of them have gradually integrated into the cultural life of people, becoming new cultural landmarks of the city.
