Two Tree Coffee House: A rural village living room

Looking at the Qinling Mountains from afar with a cup of coffee in your hand, you may spend a casual weekend in Xi'an, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Two Tree Coffee House, located at Liyukou Village, Huyi District, Xi'an City, creatively combines Shaanxi local cuisine with typical western dishes, attracting various young trend chasers.

"Hello folks, come to have a cup of tasty coffee! It's really good!" A loudspeaker on the village road is blaring to attract customers, featuring in local Shaanxi accent. The slogan "Make coffee accessible to all villagers" is pretty eye-catching on the wall of a village building.

In the outdoor courtyard of the coffee house, the straw roofs, rattan seats and scattered plants together exude a fresh and natural atmosphere, while the artistic furniture and slogans exert a strong art vibe.

Two Tree Coffee House is part of the "Village Living Room" project in Liyukou Village. The project founder Wang Huiting graduated from Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology and is a doctoral student majoring in urban planning. In 2019, she fell in love with the countryside of Liyukou Village and spent nearly half a year renovating the abandoned stone flour mill in the village. A multifunctional village living room with coffee, catering, bookstore, cultural and creative exhibition and public services is established.

Villagers from the neighborhood have been trained to work here as baristas. Making milk froth, playing coffee art, and arranging plates, they develop solid coffee-making skills via practising again and again. In addition, the Village Living Room is also a cozy corner for villagers to watch movies and enjoy themselves with folklore. This place organically combines the traditional village lifestyle with the aesthetics of modern urban life.
