Ancient ginkgo tree in Xi'an enters best viewing period
With the drop in temperature, now is the best time to enjoy the beauty of ginkgo trees. In particular, the leaves of the age-old ginkgo tree at the Ancient Guanyin Temple – in Chang'an district of Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province – are now turning a burnished yellow. From a distance, the tree seems to be wearing a transfixing golden armor. It is believed the tree dates back more than 1,400 years and was planted by Li Shimin, second emperor of the Tang Dynasty (618-907). [Photo/Visual Xi'an]
