Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, set goals for its sports sector in 2022, according to a meeting held on April 2.

This year, Xi'an will seek to build 200 fitness paths, 10 indoor gyms, 10 multi-purpose sports fields, 10 fitness demonstration communities and 10 fitness parks.

The city will develop community sports organizations, help communities to set up fitness activity teams, and establish sports activity stations and fitness clubs.

Throughout the year, no less than 1,000 social sports instructors will be trained, with no less than one sports instructor to be stationed in each residential community.

Xi'an will also carry out fitness activities such as road running, cycling, basketball, badminton, table tennis, and winter sports.

Communication and cooperation with the education department will be strengthened, and the city will encourage youth sports clubs to grow and develop, and promote the construction of traditional sports schools.

Meanwhile, as a venue for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, Xi'an will accelerate the construction of the Xi'an International Football Center and the Xi'an National Football Youth Training Base, as well as hold various international and domestic football events.
