XHTZ shows potential for investment, business at expo

The electronic information industry in Xi'an High-tech Industries Development Zone (XHTZ) has great potential to attract future investment and business and it has grabbed the spotlight at the ongoing 5th Silk Road International Exposition, which opened on Tuesday in Xi'an, capital city of Northwest China's Shaanxi province.

A series of high-tech exhibits on display by enterprises in XHTZ reportedly provide visitors with a direct impression of the achievements of the development of Xi'an's electronic information industry and gives an insight into the potential for investment and cooperation there.

As the core area of the Xi'an electronic information industry, XHTZ has organized 30 electronic information enterprises to participate in the expo, with more than 100 kinds of exhibits on display.

A businessman from a company in South China's Guangdong province found an opportunity to do business at the expo. As a result, he made contact with representatives of the participating groups, in order to negotiate potential contracts.

"I found that the enterprises in Xi'an have the technology and we have the ability and marketing channels, so it's a perfect match," he said.

The electronic information sector is one of the six pillar industries in Xi'an. It has developed specialized segments that produce integrated circuits, intelligent terminals, electronic components, new displays, photoelectric chips and new electronic materials.

The zone has attracted thousands of upstream and downstream businesses, with a combined industrial scale of over 300 billion yuan ($46.63 billion).

Over the course of recent years, XHTZ has developed a semiconductor industry supply chain for materials, equipment, design, manufacturing, packaging and testing.

It has attracted leading international semiconductor manufacturing and packaging and testing companies including Samsung, as well as top domestic chip design enterprises, such as Xi’an Unilc Semiconductors Co.

In addition, XHTZ has accelerated the development of an intelligent terminal industry, with leading enterprises settling there including ZTE and BYD.
