Korean lady's 10-year restaurant business in Xi'an

Wen Meiqing (Chinese name), 58, from Korea, is the owner of a Korean restaurant in Greenland Central Plaza of Xi'an, and she speaks fluent Chinese and can communicate with customers smoothly. Having lived in Xi'an for 16 years, she has deeply adapted to the city.

In 2006, Wen Meiqing came to Xi'an for the first time, and she never thought she would stay here for more than a decade.

At that time, because of her husband's work, Wen Meiqing came to live in Xi'an from Seoul with her son. She soon fell in love with this culturally rich, authentic, artistic city. In 2008, she opened a Korean restaurant and started her business in China.

In April 2013, the first phase of Samsung Electronics' $7 billion memory chip project was officially settled in Xi'an High-tech Zone. This is the largest project in the history of Samsung Electronics' overseas investment. With this project settled in Xi'an, more and more Koreans came to work and live in Xi'an, and this Korean Town in Xi'an High-tech Zone came into being. Wen Meiqing keenly seized this opportunity and was the first one to sign a contract with the Korea Town, opening this Mingdong Korean Restaurant, which became the first Korean restaurant in this block.

"This project of Samsung Electronics has attracted thousands of friends from my hometown, and I want them to retrieve that familiar taste in Xi'an. And our Xi'an local friends can also try authentic Korean cuisine." Wen Meiqing said, smiling.

Over ten years have passed, and while living a full life here and encountering various people, Wen Meiqing has witnessed the magnificent transformation of Xi'an. "Xi'an has changed so much! Since the 14th National Games was held in Shaanxi last year, the environment here has become more beautiful." Wen Meiqing said.

Talking about the business environment in Xi'an, Wen Meiqing said, "The departments of local government are very friendly and warm to Korean companies, and the staff are very skilled and efficient."

In Shaanxi, there are many overseas entrepreneurs like Wen Meiqing. They arrived and settled here from all over the world, deeply attracted by this land.
