On July 10th, the media group "Understand China from Cultural Relics" went to the Shaanxi History Museum to decode profound civilization and "hunt" for historical treasures, unveiling the unknown life of the ancients more than a thousand years ago.

As the first large-scale state-level modern museum in China, the Shaanxi History Museum covers an area of 65,000 square meters, with a construction area of 55,600 square meters, a collection storage area of 8,000 square meters, an exhibition hall area of 11,000 square meters, and a collection of more than 1.7 million pieces (groups) of cultural relics. The relics range from simple stone tools used by ancient humans to various objects of contemporary social life, spanning more than one million years.

What is the ancients' life like? It would be so much easier if we had a camera to capture their life scenes and get to know their stories. Out of great curiosity, the media group was eager to explore deeper about the life of the ancients. The tomb murals from the Tang Dynasty, which can be considered as the "photos" from more than a thousand years ago, vividly demonstrate the unknown aristocratic figures and all aspects of court life.

When it comes to the Tang Dynasty, you must make a stop at the featured exhibition "Treasures of the Tang Dynasty—Exhibition of Unearthed Cultural Relics in Hejiacun". There are hundreds of gold and silver vessels in the collection, representing the top crafting skills during the Tang Dynasty. A small number of cultural relics were from foreign countries back in that era.

Hou Ningbin, the curator of the Shaanxi History Museum, said in an interview that the historical information contained in the museum's exhibits demonstrates the fundamental concept of "The Splendid China, the Making of ZHONGGUO", and the museum in whole well visualizes and specifies the concept. Since its opening, the Shaanxi History Museum has organically combined social education, cultural relics protection, scientific research and industrial development. It applies a variety of methods with multiple angles to reveal the rich cultural connotation of historical relics to the public.
