Cold Dew (Han Lu) is the 17th solar term of the year and the fifth one in autumn. During this period, the temperature is much lower than that in White Dew. As temperatures fall, the dew begins to get colder before eventually frosting, thus the name "Cold Dew".

Cold Dew reflects the characteristics of climate change. During this time, the vibe of autumn is getting stronger in southern China, with cool air and wind, but less rain and dryness. While in northern China, many areas are already showing winter scenes. The traditional customs of Cold Dew include enjoying maple leaves, eating sesame, eating crabs and drinking tea (with tea leaves collected before and after this solar term).
