Yangling agricultural expo highlights international development, cooperation

The 29th China Yangling Agricultural High-Tech Fair to be held in the Yangling Demonstration Area of Shaanxi province on Sept 15-19 will accelerate innovation-driven development in agricultural science and technology and boost international cooperation in the sector.

Co-sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, the National Intellectual Property Administration, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Shaanxi provincial government, the fair will organize a total of 11 major events including the 2022 Yangling Modern Agriculture High-end Forum, the 2022 Shanghai Cooperation Organization Modern Agricultural Development Roundtable Conference and the China-Africa Agricultural Exchange and Cooperation Practice and Prospect Seminar.

Focusing on improving the quality and efficiency of modern agriculture and "being safe, orderly and high-level", this year's fair is to be conducted in a combined model of pavilion, cloud exhibition and field exhibition.

The pavilion model enables exhibitors and visitors to communicate and negotiate face-to-face; the cloud exhibition realizes visual presentation and interactive communication through display, negotiation, transaction and service; the field exhibition demonstrates the transformation of modern agricultural scientific and technological achievements.

The cloud exhibition offers exhibitors mobile terminal and personal computer terminal experiences.

Up to now, 59 exhibition groups and 358 companies have completed the decoration of the cloud exhibition hall and the release of exhibits, produced 11 practical technical lecture videos, and have determined to carry out seven special online promotion activities.

Shi Gaoling, deputy secretary of the Party working committee of the Yangling Demonstration Area and deputy director of the management committee of Yangling Demonstration Area, said this year's fair has especially strengthened the protection of intellectual property rights on the platform and the cybersecurity guarantee of the system's online operation, allowing global audiences to browse the exhibition without leaving home.

The field exhibition is another highlight to comprehensively demonstrate the role of agricultural science and technology in the rearing of fine breeds, water-saving irrigation, soil improvement and agricultural technology integration.

Shi said that the fair will showcase new achievements, latest technologies and innovative models in agricultural science and technology.

"We set up four concentrated exhibition areas to display new varieties of the modern seed industry, safe and high-quality agricultural products and new agricultural machinery."

He said the fair will also create a new platform for international cooperation in agricultural scientific and technological achievements, policies, technologies and trade with representatives from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative. "We will organize the international seed industry forum, the demonstration and application exhibition of agricultural science and technology and the exhibition of high-tech agricultural achievements.

"We will further promote new progress and achievements in improved seed breeding, soil improvement, water-saving irrigation, and agricultural technology integration, bring together new experiences of efficient grain production and ensure national food security," he said.

Also, there are several indoor exhibitions including The Agricultural Science and Technology Demonstration, Promotion and Application Exhibition, Agricultural High-Tech Achievement Exhibition, and Agricultural Science and Technology and Food Security International Exchange and Cooperation Exhibition, with a total area of 48,000 square meters and a total of 1,450 booths. The Agricultural Science and Technology Demonstration, Promotion and Application Exhibition will display new technologies, products and agricultural scientific research achievements. The Agricultural High-Tech Achievements Exhibition will gather more than 100 agricultural science and technology enterprises including Syngenta Group, Beidahuang Group and Dayu Irrigation Group to exhibit new achievements in modern agriculture.

Nearly 100 companies from SCO countries such as Uzbekistan and Russia, as well as 32 countries including the Netherlands, Germany, Israel and Japan, will display advanced agricultural technologies and achievements at the Agricultural Science and Technology and Food Security International Exchange and Cooperation Exhibition.

Founded in 1994, the fair is an agricultural high-tech exhibition with international influence.

It is based on the advantages of agricultural science and education in the demonstration area.

Over the past 28 years, Yangling has attracted tens of thousands of agriculture-related enterprises and science and education units from 34 provinces and autonomous regions as well as more than 70 countries and regions, including Russia, Canada and Israel. More than 180,000 projects and products have been exhibited at the conference and the accumulated investment and transaction volume exceeded 1 trillion yuan ($144.8 billion).
