Baoji, named “Chencang” in ancient times, is the birthplace of Emperor Yandi---one of the two ancestors of Chinese nation and the cradle of the civilization of the Zhou and Qin Dynasties, also located in the west of the Guanzhong Plain. The city is well known as the 'Hometown of Bronze Ware','The city of Folk Art and Craft', and 'The Sacred Land of Buddhist Relics'. Baoji is also a crucial city on the “Belt and Road” and a sub-central city of the Guanzhong Plain Urban Group. The word “中国” (China) was first seen on the bronze He Zun unearthed in Baoji.

65 torchbearers from various fields and industries started from the Baoji Bronze Ware Museum, relaying along the shore of the Weihe River which nurtured the Chinese civilization. They just fully presented the Baoji City with its splendid history and culture, new development achievements, beautiful ecological environment and the city vitality in this era.

Shi-ku, also known as Stone Drums, originates from ten drum-shaped granite stones in Qin, which carried the seal script as a form of expression, and poetry as a way of documenting, mostly chanting the Qin monarch’s hunting trips.                Baoji Bronze Ware Museum      

One of the two landmark buildings here, the Baoji Bronze Ware Museum is the largest bronze museum in the country and the only themed museum named after bronze. More than 1,500 bronze artifacts unearthed in Baoji are on display, interpreting Baoji's splendid history and bronze culture from different angles.

Shi-ku Pavilion

Another featured building is the Shi-ku Pavilion, which imitates the architectural style of Qin and Han Dynasties, with 9 floors inside and 5 floors from outside. This hierarchical  structure highlights the respected status of the Zhou and Qin civilization in the history of the Chinese nation. The pavilion mainly displays stone drum culture and outstanding calligraphy works of past dynasties, it also provides a bird's-eye view of the city. At the same time, it is also a landmark building in Baoji City.

Exciting Events

Baoji is only next to Xi'an in terms of the number of sport events held in the city. During the coming big event, Baoji will host water polo and women's soccer U-18 competition and all nine Special Olympics events, including track and field, badminton, basketball, bocce ball, soccer, weightlifting, roller skating, swimming and table tennis.

  Soccer eventThe Stadium of Baoji Vocational and Technical College is the main venue of the 14th National Games soccer competition. The stadium covers an area of 18,000㎡, including an standard 11-a-side natural soccer field.
