Xi'an makes progress in economic, social development

Since the start of this year, Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, has made a number of achievements in economic and social development.

In the first three quarters, the city's GDP reached 826.27 billion yuan ($118.72 billion), an increase of 4 percent and 1 percentage point higher than the national GDP.

From January to October, the added value of industries above a designated size increased by 13.5 percent, ranking first among sub-provincial cities in the country.

The city was also approved as a national advanced manufacturing and modern service industry integrated development pilot area as well as a national new material and new energy industrialization base.

In the 10-month period, the city's total imports and exports amounted to 368.78 billion yuan, an increase of 2.3 percent.

Agricultural and rural work has been strong. The city has 581 beautiful villages and more than 90,000 households with beautiful gardens.

In the autumn semester of 2022, 116 new primary and secondary schools and kindergartens were built or expanded, expanding enrollment capacity by 105,000 students.

Also, nearly 400 public job fairs of various types were organized, providing nearly 900,000 jobs.
