1. City Characteristics and Development Orientation

Hanzhong is located in the southwest of Shaanxi Province. The beautiful Hanjiang River runs through the basin. It has enjoyed such reputations as “Land of Abundance” and “Land of Plenty” since ancient times. It is also the birthplace of Chinese culture.

It covers an area of 27,091.9 square kilometers with a permanent resident population of 3,211,462(2020). In 2020, it realized a GDP of RMB 159.340 billion.

With goals of constructing a powerful economic, cultural and livable city, Hanzhong is creating the national aviation industrial base, green industrial base, first-class eco-cultural tourism destination, “West Triangle” economic zone modern logistics center and Chinese culture exhibition center.

2. Investment Promotion Overview and Investment Environment Features

The transportation network of expressway, high-speed railway and aviation has been basically formed in the city. Boasting good ecological environment, rich mineral resources and diverse animal and plant species, Hanzhong is known as “Chinese Cornucopia” and “Natural Species Gene Pool”. It has launched investment projects parallel processing implementation measures and provided efficient administrative services and environmental protection to enterprises.

In 2016, the city’s actual investment fund was increased by 15%. An increasing number of Fortune/China Top 500 enterprises have successively stationed in the city. Hanzhong actively involves in the “Belt and Road Initiative” and Yangtze River Economic Belt to promote the brand of “Zhang Qian’s Diplomatic Mission for Culture & Trade Promotion”.

3. Key Projects in 2017

(1) High-end Equipment: strengthening the manufacturing of aeronautic equipment and facilitating the manufacturing of new energy vehicle, intelligent equipment and energy equipment. The key investment projects include: development and production of civil transport aircraft, construction of civil helicopter production line, development and manufacturing of special aircraft in the Hanzhong New Aviation Wisdom City.

(2) Modern Materials: building new material bases respectively centering on metal structures such as high-quality special steel, zinc, copper and nickel and light alloys such as magnesium, titanium and potassium, high-performance new material base centering on graphene.

(3) Green Food and Medicine: Focusing on the development of modern Chinese medicine, biopharmaceuticals and characteristic agricultural products processing industries. The key investment projects include: Paeonia suffruticosa Andr demonstration base, Alkaloids from Rhizoma corydalis, organic rice planting base and Chinese medicinal materials selecting and processing etc.

(4) Cultural Tourism: creating the China's Most Beautiful Sinkhole, Tianhan Changjie and Tiantai Forest Park scenic areas; developing Diqiang Folk and Culture Street, Liangyating•Caoping•Heilongtan Hiking, mountain waterfall group, etc.
