Located in Zhouzhi County, the source of Heihe River, Heihe National Forest Park is part of Greater Taibai Mountain area, with an area of 7462 hectares and a forest coverage rate of 94%.

Heihe National Forest Park is endowed with magnificent senery, vast green vegetation, four rare animals (crested ibis, giant panda, golden monkey, and takin), cultural elements, and simple and honest folks. No wander it is bailed as Shangri-La in North China, the "gene bank of natural animal", the reception hall and the most important water source of Xi'an.

Heihe Gorge

Since the establishment of the park in 2000, Heihe National Forest Park, based on the philosophy of "Win-win Protection and Development," has developed forest eco-tourism in a scientific and rationalapproach. Now the park has four parts, namely Heihe River, Damang River, Houzhenzi, and Dashugou, and five themed scenic areas including Cherry Blossom Forest, Magnolia Flower Valley, Cornel Fragrance, Bauhinia Flower Sea, and Bamboo Waterfall. More than 100 scenic spots can be found here, Heilongtan, Yixiantian, Magnolia King, Longgu Gorge, Huligou, and Dashugou Waterfall, to name but a few.

There are service and reception facilities such as Shuiyuan Mountain Villa, Tiejia Mountain Villa, Panda Mountain Villa, etc. You can choose comfortable homestays such as Panda Mountain House and Panshiwu. Cultural and humanity service places include Qinling Nature School, Forest Experience Hall, Popular Science Information Station, and Forest Health and Wellness Base. Heihe National Forest Park intergrates nature with food, housing, transportation, travel, shopping and entertainment in a strategically arraged way.

Public transportation(by coach):

1. Take acoachfrom Xi’an Fengqing Road Bus Station (normal or high-speed bus) to Zhouzhi County Bus Station (about 1.5-2 hours)

2. Transfer to the shuttle bus from Zhouzhi to Houzhenzi, Banfangzi, etc., and get off at Shuiyuan Mountain Villa (Houzhenzi Forest Farm) (about 1-1.5 hours).
