Cultural Exchanges: 2nd SCO Television Festival kicks off in Xi'an

Xi'an is hosting the 2nd Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Television Festival under the theme Joining Civilizations: Audio Video Creations for a Shared Future. Nearly 300 delegates from 19 countries – including government officials, industry representatives, academics, and embassy staff – are gathered to strengthen cross-border audiovisual cooperation. 

The 2nd TV festival of Shanghai Cooperation Organization Countries is now underway in Xi'an – the ancient gateway to the Silk Road. 

As the world's largest and most populous regional organization, the SCO plays a vital role in fostering cooperation. To date, China has co-produced 13 audio visual programs with SCO countries, and broadcast over 200 top-tier foreign works across Chinese TV and online platforms. Nearly a dozen co-productions are in development, including Singer 2024, which featured contestants from Russia and Kazakhstan.

In line with China's booming 50 billion yuan micro drama sector, the festival promotes a fully integrated media ecosystem.

Sessions on Industry Cooperation, Content Distribution, and Marketplace Showcase are driving new partnerships, market growth, and technology exchange.
