2 Sino-foreign cooperative education institutions established in Xi'an

Two universities in Xi'an have recently received official approval to launch new Sino-foreign cooperative educational institutions.

Szeged International College, jointly founded by Shaanxi Normal University and Hungary's University of Szeged, has recently been approved.

Building on their mature undergrad program in Electronic Information Science and Technology, the college combines both universities' top resources for deeper cooperation. It delivers two bachelor's and two master's degrees covering Physics, Electronic Information Science & Technology, Computer Science and Computer Engineering to build premium international training frameworks.

Founded in 1581, the University of Szeged is Hungary's top university and a leading Central European institution home to three Nobel laureates. Shaanxi Normal University will focus on quality to build the college into a key platform supporting China's tech and talent strategies and advance toward a world-class normal university through educational opening-up.

XAUAT-UC International Science and Engineering Institute, Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology

The Ministry of Education has approved the XAUAT-UC International Science and Engineering Institute, a non-independent Sino-foreign institution jointly established by Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology and New Zealand's University of Canterbury. The institute will open national enrollment this year.

Offering bachelor's, master's and PhD degrees, the institute runs two undergrad, three master's and one doctoral program across specified engineering and science fields. It uses 4+0/3+1, 1+1+1 and 2+2 study routes respectively for each cohort, with a planned intake of 1,370. Leveraging UC's top academics, it fosters globally minded high-end innovators.

Founded in 1873 by Oxford and Cambridge academics, the University of Canterbury is New Zealand's first QS five-star public research university, with its engineering subjects ranked top 100 globally by QS.
