The first West China commercial space conference, hosted by the Chinese Society of Astronautics and the Commercial Space Innovation Consortium, and organized by the West Space Technology Group and Shaanxi Aerospace and Astronautics Propulsion Research Institute, will be held on June 27.

It represents the first professional event in western China encompassing the entire industrial chain related to the commercial opportunities opening up in space, and will bring together participants from government agencies, research institutions, businesses, and investment organizations.

Structured as a combination of conference sessions and accompanying exhibitions, the event will focus on four core agenda items: interpreting and unveiling policies supporting commercial space development; signing industrial cooperation agreements and launching innovation platforms for industry-academia-research collaboration; hosting thematic discussions led by industrial experts on satellites, rockets, measurement and control systems, and supply chains; and showcasing cutting-edge aerospace technologies alongside dedicated sessions for industrial chain and investment matchmaking.

Xi'an is home to a robust aerospace industrial ecosystem, with multiple State-owned institutes holding major domestic market shares in fields such as rocket engines, Beidou satellite payload, and laser communication devices. Local private aerospace enterprises are also thriving and evolving.

The city is in the process of drafting its commercial space development plan for 2026–2030, aiming to surpass around $140 billion in output by 2030. It also plans to establish large-scale assembly and manufacturing lines for satellites and rockets.
