Xi'an launches XR industrial chain plan to foster digital growth

In a significant move to accelerate digital innovation and industrial transformation, Xi'an has rolled out an implementation plan to cultivate and strengthen its extended reality (XR) industrial chain.

The plan emphasizes utilizing Xi'an's rich cultural, technological, and talent resources, with content creation at its core, driven by XR technology and integrated with sectors such as film and cultural tourism.

The city will establish a "1+1+1+N" industrial development system, comprising institutional and standard frameworks, an XR content production base, an XR terminal equipment manufacturing hub, and the expansion of applications across multiple fields.

Key initiatives include using advanced facilities, such as motion-capture studios and testing labs, within the Xi'an XR Film Content Production Base to attract leading content teams and startups.

A nearly 700,000-square-meter XR+AI equipment manufacturing base will also be developed in the Xi'an Chan-ba International Port, supported by streamlined land supply policies.

By the end of 2026, the city aims to achieve breakthroughs in core XR technologies, cultivate a cluster of competitive enterprises, and deepen integration with related industries. The plan also highlights ambitions to build one of China's largest XR cinema networks and host influential industry events, positioning Xi'an as a leading hub in the national XR landscape.
