Short video industry base launched in Shaanxi

The Western International Short Video Base in Qinhan New City, Xixian New Area, has officially begun operations, attracting multiple production crews to film high-quality mini dramas. Its launch adds a new highlight to the region's cultural and tourism development while strengthening the complete industry chain for micro dramas.

Developed by Shaanxi Culture Industry Investment Group, the base spans about 158 mu (around 105,333 square meters), with 52,000 square meters of planned shooting space. It features 35,000 square meters of indoor sets and nearly 200 scenes for costume, modern, period, and specialty dramas, enabling seamless full-era filming where ancient and modern settings can appear side by side.

The base has completed more than 20,000 square meters of indoor modern-drama sets and 1,400 square meters of costume-drama sets, featuring 29 main scenes and 88 sub-scenes, from villas and hospitals to airport lounges and subway cars, along with 11 fully realized costume-drama settings. This "move-in-and-film" model significantly shortens pre-production time and lowers production costs.

By the end of this year, Phase I of the base will be completed, opening all modern and period sets and most costume sets to meet the production needs of mainstream mini dramas. Phase II will add a 5,000-square-meter digital studio that uses advanced technology to enable one-click switching between CG environments such as deserts, forests, and outer space, supporting all-weather, high-efficiency filming without reliance on physical locations.

Once Phase II is fully completed, the base's location sets, virtual studios, themed hotels, and commercial facilities will begin unified operations. It will then become western China's largest and most comprehensive service platform for the micro drama industry, offering long-term, sustainable support for its growth.

Shaanxi Culture Industry Investment Group has also introduced a "One Base, Four Platforms" strategy centered on the project. The four platforms cover AI-powered content creation, micro drama review services, overseas distribution, and domestic traffic-driven distribution, forming a comprehensive ecosystem that integrates investment, production, distribution, marketing, and copyright trading to strengthen overall mini drama capabilities.
