On December 8, the 2nd Malaysia & Northwest China Business Forum was held in Xi'an. Esteemed guests from political, business, academic, and research sectors of China and Malaysia discussed investment opportunities, bilateral trade, and cross-sectoral collaboration. Several memoranda of understanding were signed, injecting new momentum into the economic and trade cooperation between Northwest China and Malaysia.
China and Malaysia are close neighbors across the sea and important partners committed to win-win cooperation, with a long history of economic and trade exchanges. In recent years, Xi'an and Malaysia have achieved fruitful cooperation in various fields, including trade and investment, infrastructure, digital economy, green energy, and cultural tourism.
Malaysia has been a key foreign trade partner of Shaanxi Province for 16 years. Major projects like palm oil refining and food industrial parks are underway. Shaanxi's LONGi Green Energy Technology launched its rooftop photovoltaic system in Malaysia, officially entering the Malaysian market. From January to October, trade between Shaanxi and Malaysia reached 33.9 billion yuan, a 32% increase year-on-year, highlighting strong bilateral economic relations.

During the forum, the Xi'an Office of the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China signed memoranda of understanding with Shaanxi Foreign Economic and Trade Construction Group Co., Ltd. and Ji Hua 3513 Industry Co., Ltd., respectively, aiming to deepen cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, infrastructure construction, and cross-border collaboration in related industries.
Following the opening ceremony, participants engaged in three thematic discussions. The first session explored Malaysia-China investment opportunities, focusing on market dynamics and industrial strengths. The second addressed ways to promote bilateral trade, sharing successful cases and exploring new models for collaboration. The final session strengthened cross-sectoral cooperation, with lively exchanges on opportunities in legal services, the digital economy, and cultural tourism, yielding constructive proposals.
On the same afternoon, Malaysian government and business representatives conducted site visits to several Xi'an companies to gain deeper insights into local industrial development and explore potential collaboration opportunities.
