PepsiCo production base settles in Xi'an
The commissioning ceremony for PepsiCo's Shaanxi production base was held on Oct 28 at Weibei Industrial Park in Xi'an Economic and Technological Development Zone.
This project, with a total investment of about 1.3 billion yuan ($183.08 million), is equipped with two automated production lines and an annual production capacity of about 25,000 metric tons. The project integrates globally leading production, packaging, and warehousing technologies, adopts energy-saving new processes, equipment, and materials, and is committed to setting a new benchmark for world-class green and smart factories.
The base was completed within 13 months, setting the record for the shortest construction period of PepsiCo's global factories. It also took only two months for the base to clarify its cooperative intentions and sign a formal investment agreement.
Evrim Sen, general manager of PepsiCo China, said at the ceremony that PepsiCo's settlement in Xi'an coincides with Shaanxi province's goal of "promoting high-quality development with new quality productive forces". The base's operation cannot be achieved without the support and promotion of Shaanxi province, Xi'an city, and the Economic and Technological Development Zone, which greatly enhances the company's confidence in its development.
With the efforts of upstream and downstream partners, PepsiCo will build its Shaanxi production base into one of its greenest factories with the highest level of digitalization and better serving the Chinese market with "PepsiCo speed".
