Yulin celebrates Chinese New Year with yangko extravaganza

Yulin in Shaanxi Province hosted a launching ceremony for a grand yangko folk dance performance on Wednesday, involving around 3,000 dancers from China, Russia, Thailand, South Korea and Bulgaria.

From Feb 1 to 5, yangko teams will dance in turn while walking along the streets of the city. From Feb 11 to 12, 20 yangko teams will dance at the same time every day.

Besides yangko, the event also features opera, fireworks, a drone show and an intangible cultural heritage fair, creating a festive atmosphere for the Chinese New Year.
