Xi'an advances smart port development

Xi'an has been included in the airport project under the Smart Port Development Initiative by the State Council.

Xi'an's airport is Shaanxi's primary aviation hub, featuring the province's most comprehensive infrastructure and highest level of activity. It serves as a vital gateway for Shaanxi's opening‑up.

Xi'an Customs continues to advance the integrated development of smart customs and smart ports. A smart inspection system has already been put into operation at Terminal 5 of Xi'an Xianyang International Airport. It can verify passengers' belongings and complete health declarations in as little as seven seconds.

Machine‑screening of checked‑in baggage for a single inbound flight takes only 20 minutes, while inbound passengers can complete customs clearance within just five minutes after collecting their baggage. For an inbound flight carrying 300 passengers, clearance time has been cut from one hour to 30 minutes.

During the 15th Five‑Year Plan period (2026–30), Shaanxi's port‑related work will focus on five priorities, including further advancing smart port development, accelerating the development of the air hub, and optimizing the port‑side business environment. These efforts will deliver higher‑standard and better‑quality service support for broader opening‑up, deeper international cooperation and exchanges, and accelerated industrial transformation and upgrading.

Shaanxi will further strengthen Xi'an Xianyang International Airport as an international aviation hub by expanding its network of international and regional air routes, increasing passenger and cargo capacity, and building a safe and efficient air transport corridor.
