Modern Infrastructure

In recent years, Shaanxi has witnessed a leap-forward development in infrastructure construction. A modern comprehensive multi-modal transportation network has taken shape, serving as a new engine boosting Shaanxi's opening-up and high-quality development.

High Speed Railway: Construction of the M-shaped high-speed railway network centered on Xi'an has been accelerated and its main framework has been basically completed. The Datong-Xi'an High-speed Railway is in operation; the Zhengzhou-Xi'an High-speed Railway is connected with the Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Railway. The Xi'an-Chengdu and Xi'an-Yinchuan High-speed Railways have been opened to traffic. The newly completed Xi'an-Yan'an and Xi'an-Shiyan High-speed Railways further improve the network layout. These high-speed railways greatly shorten travel time between Xi'an and major domestic cities and form a nationwide high-speed rail one-day access circle.

Highways: Shaanxi sections of six national expressways including the Beijing-Kunming Expressway, Lianyungang-Khorgos Expressway and Baotou-Maoming Expressway have been fully completed. The province's operational expressway mileage stands at 6,895 kilometers.

Modern Aviation Network: Xi'an Xianyang International Airport operates 53 international and regional air routes connecting Xi'an with Paris, Rome, Frankfurt, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Moscow and other major cities around the world. As one of China's key regional international aviation hubs, it boasts advanced terminal facilities after Phase III expansion.

Metro: Under the Greater Xi'an rail transit long-term plan, a total of 23 metro lines are envisioned. At present, Line 1, Line 2, Line 3, Line 4, Line 5, Line 6, Line 8 (Loop Line), Line 9, Line 10, Line 14, Line 15, Line 16 and the Airport Intercity Railway have been fully put into operation.

Cross-border Railway: The Chang'an Train has been incorporated into the national China-Europe Railway Express system. Operated at high density with multiple scheduled departures every day, its cargo sources cover eight surrounding provincial-level regions of Shaanxi as well as coastal areas including Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai. The trains reach 45 countries across Eurasia, making Xi'an a core assembly hub for China-Europe Railway Express.
