Yulin, which started from the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period and flourished in the Ming and Qing dynasties, was the station of Yansui Town (also known as Yulin Town), one of nine important military towns in the Ming Dynasty. Enjoying the reputation of “Little Beijing”, Yunlin has received a tablet with the inscription of “Military and Civilian Guarding the City Twice” from Kangxi Emperor. With the good reputation of “Lingxiao Tower, Zhenbeitai Tower, Central Ancient Town, and Six Towers along the Old Street”, the unique city is rare in this divine land. So, these towers are also an important symbol of Yunlin, a famous national historic and cultural city and a top tourist destination.

Yulin, a transition region of the Loess Plateau and the Inner Mongolian Plateau, is the northernmost area in Shaanxi, China. Across the river from Shanxi lies Yulin, which faces the Yellow River in the east, Ningxia and Gansu in the west, and Ordos in the north. Being the borderline area of Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolian and Shanxi, Yulin was a place of strategic importance since ancient times.

In Yunlin tourists can visit the world-level cultural heritage, such as Zhenbeitai Tower, the first tower of the Great Wall. As one of China’s top ten ancient cities, Yulin can boast of numerous tourist attractions, such as Red Rock Canyon, Tongwancheng Site, Hongjiannao Lake, Yulin Desert National Forest Park, Shimao Site, Baiyun Mountain, Qingyun Temple, Xuankong Temple, Erlang Mountain, Fuzhou Ancient Town, Gaojiapu Ancient Town, and Xifeng Temple.
