Central Shaanxi Folk Art Museum is located at the center of Zhongnanshan World Geological Park in Qinling Mountain and at the foot of South Wutaishan Mountain, the sacred land of Buddhism of both Sui and Tang Dynasties. The museum represents one of the Shaanxi province patriotic education bases and national cultural industry demonstration bases, with 10,800 square meters building areas and is established with an investment of 570 million yuan.

The museum has ancient stone carvings, wood carvings and tile carvings, as well as ancient residences of Central Shaanxi, mass production, lifestyle, customs, cultures and habits and other such legacies since Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang Dynasties. It also has altogether 33,600 pieces (sets) of calligraphies and paintings by famous people. The museum collects and preserves 40 ancient residences of nearly 1,000 rooms that dated back to Ming and Qing Dynasties.

It also collects and sorts out a large amount of local operas, craft workshops, etiquettes and established rules and other such non-material cultural legacies and forms a collection of nine different categories that can be divided into such four series as folk arts, Central Shaanxi residences, customs and habits, and calligraphies and paintings by famous people. At the museum, the ancient residential street and more than 8,600 exquisite hitching posts that are praised as “Terra-Cotta Warriors on the Ground” have won the hearts of tourists.

The construction of Central Shaanxi Folk Art Museum not only fulfills the collection of folk cultural relics, but also opens up new areas for the study of folk culture. The museum shows the profound cultural connotation and cultural relics of Shaanxi province, and also works on cultural relics, folklore and cultural studies.
