41 villages in Shaanxi Province including Shichuangou Village of Gepai Town in Lantian County were selected to be on the Traditional Chinese Village List.

Traditional village refers to the village that, formed at a very early time, has a certain amount of historical, cultural, scientific, artistic, and social values, whose traditional buildings, pattern of villages, and intangible cultures are relatively intact. This time, the 41 villages selected represent traditional villages in Shaanxi Province. Their traditional village styles are intact. Their architectural styles are simple and elegant. They gather together different types of residences including Hui-style architecture in southern Shaanxi, the courtyard in the central Shaanxi Plain, underground cave dwelling in Weibei Plateau, cave dwelling in northern Shaanxi and so on. Originated from those villages, intangible cultures including bread noodles in the central Shaanxi Plain, Club Fire, paper cutting in northern Shaanxi, Yangko (a popular rural folk dance), and a percussion instrument made of bamboo in southern Shaanxi, folk songs and so on have a very long history. Up till now, they have been being passed down from generation to generation in living form.

As a material carrier and cultural symbol for “keeping homesickness,” the traditional villages are very important rural tourist resources. Many traditional villages, including Yuanjia Village in Liquan County, Dangjia Village in Hancheng County, Jiapo Village in Yongshoudeng County, Baishe Village in Sanyuan County and so on, have already won favor from tourists.
