Xi'an to hold first community sports games

The First Xi'an Community Sports Games are scheduled to be held in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, from June 10 to November this year, according to a news conference held on June 7.

All Xi'an residents who are healthy and often participate in sports are eligible to register for the games according to requirements.

The event is divided into three stages: community trials, district and county divisional competitions, and city-wide finals.

District and county divisional competitions will consist of 25 competition events in five categories, including ball sports, chess and dances. Various districts, counties and development zones in the city can also carry out their own special projects.

The city-wide finals will consist of 11 competitions for basketball, football, table tennis, badminton, rope skipping, chess, the game of go (weiqi), radio gymnastics, square dance, tai chi (taiji), health qigong, and two exchange events for swimming and cycling.

The emblem for the event is made up of orange, blue and green, making it bright, lively and easily recognizable.

It depicts a harmonious scene of adults and children exercising together in a field, implying that the community games are available to people of various ages and groups.
