On July 3rd, the reporter learned from Shaanxi Intercity Railway Co., Ltd. that the off-line ceremony of the first train of the Airport Intercity Railway Project was successfully held by the CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd., signaling an important step of putting the airport line into operation by the end of 2018.

It is known that the airport line is the first intercity railway in Shaanxi to run from the North Square of Xi’anbei Railway Station to Airport West Station (T2, T3). It passes through Xi’an Economic and Technological Development Zone, Qinhan New City, Airport New City, and the planned T5 of the airport, with a total length of 29.31 kilometers. There are ten stations in total, among which Xi’anbei Railway Station (North Square) and the Metro Line 4 are interchanged on the same platform, and then runs through Metro Line 14 in the east.

The B2 type train with four powered carriages pulling another two is to be adopted by airport line. Every section of the train is about 19.5 meters long, 2.8 meters wide and 3.8 meters high. The whole train is stipulated to carry 1,392 people, but can hold up to a total of 1,762 passengers, while 276 seats will be provided. It can be put into service for up to 30 years with a highest speed of 100km/h and an average speed of more than 50km/h. The train is made of steel and powered by overhead contact wires. It is planned that there will be an initial adoption of nine trains in the first-stage of the project.

Each train of the airport line is very stunning due to its streamlined shape and the turquoise color stretching on its white body. The warm-colored honeycomb stripe on the seats inside adds a more diversified touch to the train as well.

Next, the Intercity Railway Co., Ltd will take the opportunity of connecting carriages on this first train and spare no efforts to initiate a test drive so as to complete the first-stage of project and put the whole line into operation by the end of 2018.
