“The Catalogue of the Most Beautiful Ancient Trees in China”: Four Ancient Trees in Shaanxi Have Been Included

It was reported that after two years of review and selection, “The Catalogue of the Most Beautiful Ancient Trees in China” organized by the Office of National Afforestation Committee and the Chinese Society of Forestry has recently been published. Four ancient trees in Shaanxi Province have been included into the catalogue, respectively the 5,000-year-old Chinese arbor-vitae in Huangling County, Yan’an City that was planted by the Yellow Emperor (2717 – 2599 BC) according to folklore; the 1,200-year-old yulan magnolia in Zhouzhi County, Xi’an; the 1,700-year-old wood of shiny leaf yellow horn in Heyang County, Weinan City; and the 500-year-old horse chestnut tree in Langao County, Ankang City.
