The Ministry of Culture and Tourism recently announced the first list of 120 national nighttime cultural and tourism consumption cluster areas, and two sites in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province were included.

The two sites were Datang Everbright City and Xi'an City Wall Scenic Area.

With a design based on Tang Dynasty (618-907) culture, Datang Everbright City strives to create a one-stop consumer paradise that integrates shopping, dining, entertainment, leisure, tourism and business.

The Xi'an City Wall was expanded in the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) from the imperial city walls of the Sui (581-618) and Tang dynasties. It is the oldest, most well-preserved, and largest ancient city wall in the world.

In recent years, cultivating the nighttime economy has become Xi'an's new consumption focus, and the city has repeatedly entered the list of China's top 10 cities in terms of nighttime economy.

In 2020, Xi'an formulated plans to speed up the development of the nighttime economy and promote consumption growth, which set out four main tasks: creating a nighttime shopping destination, developing nighttime special catering, creating a nighttime scene-style block, and increasing business, travel, and cultural integration.

Meanwhile, all districts and counties in the city have launched various activities to promote the development of nighttime economy-related industries, such as night tour fairs and food shopping festivals.
