On May 21st, the China Railway Express “Chang’an”—the first special train for cross-border e-commerce logistics—arrived at the Railway Container Center of the Xi’an International Trade & Logistics Park.

At 10:30 on May 21st, with a long blast from its horn, the China Railway Express loaded with commodities covering automobile equipment and household appliances purchased through China’s e-commerce platform JD.com, started from Hamburg, Germany and travelled via Poland, Russia and Kazakhstan, finally entering China from Alashankou City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China, and arrived at Xinzhu Station under the administration of the Xi’an Railway Bureau after a 16-day journey. This is the first special train for cross-border e-commerce logistics of the China Railway Express arriving in Xi’an since the inauguration of the China Railway Express.

The China Railway Express has become the international flagship for paving the way for the construction of the “Belt and Road” since its implementation. In recent years, along with the rapid development of cross-border e-commerce, the logistical demand between China and Europe has been on the increase. In the past, the development of the export-oriented economy for cities located in the interior were hindered since their locations are far from any coastlines, but now the China Railway Express has helped to fix this disadvantage. Every week, cross-border commodities including automobile equipment and household articles and other kinds of fast moving consumer products are sent out from Hamburg, Duisburg, Malaszewicze, Budapest and other European cities and delivered to Xi’an through the express.

The special train for cross-border e-commerce logistics of the China Railway Express arriving in Shaanxi is another move conducted by the Xi’an Railway Bureau to construct the “Belt and Road”. Not only has it added new momentum to the operation of the China Railway Express, but also pushed forward the development of the cross-border e-commerce logistics of Xi’an.
