A deep look of Shaanxi with the 14th National Games:Xianyang

Xianyang City is located in the hinterland of the Guanzhong Plain in Shaanxi. The Weihe River passes through the south, and the Jiuzong Mountains extend at its north, both are sunlight-rich (yang) orientations - hence the name "Xianyang", meaning "fully yang". The city used to be the capital of China's first feudal Dynasty —— the "Qin Empire", having a total area of 10,196 square kilometers, 2 cities, 2 districts and 9 counties, with a total population of around 5 million. This ancient capital is also known as 'the national civilized city', 'the national historical and cultural city', and 'the excellent tourist city in China'. Xianyang, a crucial city in the Guanzhong Plain, also located at the core area of the Greater Xi'an Metropolitan Area, has already transformed from an ancient civilized and inclusive capital to an enthusiastic and open modern city.

On August 29th, the Torch Relay of the 14th National Games and 11th National Paralympic Games, and the 8th National Special Olympics was passed to Xianyang, transferred from Xi'an, Weinan, Hancheng, Yan'an, Yulin, and Tongchuan.

The Torch Relay route at Xianyang originated from the vigorous development of city and the beautiful natural environment of Xianyang Lake. Among them, the section along the Xianyang Lake is equipped with the most beautiful running and fitness route. Among the greenery, there are also scenic spots offering number of sports themed spaces along the lake, which turns into a popular place for citizens and sports enthusiasts. The 14th National Games enable Xianyang to become a richer, more modern and healthier city. As of the end of 2020, the coverage rate of the 15-minute fitness circle in Xianyang city has reached 95%.

Xianyang Lake used to be only a section of the Weihe River, which was basically a river beach. In recent years, upon several major renovations, it has become a place for leisure and fitness in Xianyang.

Liangsidu Park

Liangsidu Park is a large-scale urban comprehensive park with multiple functions such as ecology, landscape, leisure, entertainment, and sports. The park has the largest Chinese Rose theme garden in Shaanxi, covering an area of 68 acres, with more than 60 varieties.

Baima River Park

Walking through the park, your eyes will be full of green, and the widespread trails are very friendly to the residents. The park truly offers a low cost environment for sports and leisure.

Zhengping Avenue Greenway Park

The park is located in the Chongwen Tower Scenic Area in Jinghe New City, where the loop road is highly suitable for walking. Every year in the spring and autumn, there will be walking activities organized.

Weiliu Wetland Park  

The park contains 10 beach themed ecological areas and 1 river treatment area, equipped with variety of sports venues.
