A comprehensive view upon Tongchuan

Tongchuan City is adjacent to Xi'an in the south, and to the Mausoleum of the Yellow Emperor and Yan'an in the north, located at the junction of the central part of Shaanxi Province, the Guanzhong Basin and the Northern Shaanxi Plateau. It is truly a convergence of outstanding talents, rich natural resources, profound cultural heritage, and various historical sites. It is the hometown of many historical celebrities such as the "King of Medicine" Sun Simiao, famous calligrapher Liu Gongquan in the Tang Dynasty, the historian Linghu Defen, and landscape painter Fan Kuan in Northern Song Dynasty. Here, the Yaozhou Kiln lasting for thousands of years, the summer palace of the three emperors in the early Tang Dynasty, the Yuhua Palace where Master Xuanzang translated the scriptures, the Yaowang Mountain, and the Buddhist sanctuary Daxiangshan Temple are classic historical sites at all time.

Ignited passion by the Torch Relay

   Tongchuan City is the sixth stop of the Torch Relay of the 2021 National Games, the starting point of the relay route is set at Tongchuan City Government (Yangguang Plaza), passing through Zhengyang Road, Changhong South Road, Huayuan East Road (Silk Road Industrial Park), Huayuan West Road, Changning South Road (Municipal Party Committee), Chaoyang Road (Painting and Calligraphy Park), and finally reaching the end at the Tongchuan Gymnasium.

The torch relay is about 4.8 kilometers long, and the total 67 torchbearers ran with full enthusiasm, with the symbol of hope in their hands. They passed through the Tongchuan City, which has been filled with long history, rich culture and great vitality.

    The torchbearers come from all walks of life like science and technology, medical, sports, education, politics and law. Among them are first-class craftsman of Yaozhou Kiln as well as journalists. They brighten the flame of the torch with their own life stories and spread the spirit of the times with their own footprints. The last torchbearer of this torch relay, Li Yunnan, lit the sacred flame basin in front of Tongchuan Stadium, and the flame of the Games was then sealed and sent to the next stop.

Tongchuan Stadium

During the 14th National Games and the 11th National Games for Persons with Disabilities & the 8th National Special Olympic Games, Tongchuan City in Shaanxi Province will host two events: men's basketball and jump rope for the blind.

The events will be held in the newly built Tongchuan Gymnasium, which is located in the cultural and sports base in the new district. With a grand and magnificent appearance, distinctive features and rich layers, the stadium looks like a diamond, symbolizing the spirit of the supremacy of sports rules. Including two basketball training courts and one basketball game court, the 25-meter-high building offers a total of 5318 seats .

While the Tongchuan Stadium has been cleaned and decorated, the city is now well prepared for the approaching events.
