Xi'an City Wall murals recount prosperous Tang Dynasty era
Two very modern women pose for a photo on March 2 in front of a three-dimensional mural – depicting an image of ancient times – painted on the Xi'an City Wall in Xi'an, capital city of Northwest China's Shaanxi province. This group of three-dimensional murals is located in the City Wall section, from Jianguo Gate to Heping Gate in Shuncheng Lane. Taking the prosperous Tang Dynasty (618-807) as its theme, the murals portray palaces, the Silk Road camel caravan, the Lantern Festival, life in the bygone city – among other things – presenting sightseers with a dream-like visual sequence that takes them back to those ancient times.
